Congratulations Linda and Andre!
This is a little overdue!
On friday August 17th, Corey's mom Linda and her fiance Andre got married in Madison. The wedding was beautiful, personal, and very "them." I had a great time and I'm pretty sure everyone else did too! They got married in the church where they met, and had the reception in the commons at Olbrich Gardens. If we end up going with a traditional wedding still, I would DEFINITELY want to have it there.
Andre and Linda walked down the aisle together behind a bagpiper, which was pretty sweet. Corey and both of his brothers were groomsmen, and Andre's daughter Cyra and I were bridesmaids. I got to walk between Corey and his brother Chris which was interesting and a little funny. Cyra also played the guitar for one of the songs. Andre and Linda are very good friends with the pastor of the church (who was the officiant) and also with the pastor's wife Shanti (sp?) who did most of the music along with a few other close friends of the family.
The reception was a blast! I'm not saying that because I got to drink for free either. It was all about the Scottish dancing! Before the rehearsal the night before, Linda and Andre had a girl come in and teach them a few traditional Scottish dances so at the reception whoever wanted to participate would have people to follow. This was an absolute hit, if you ask me. It looked fun but I wasn't sure how it would go at the actual reception. I think about half of the people that were there when the dancing started got up and did it and had a great time. I was out there from beginning to end having the time of my life! With all that jumping and twirling my calves paid the price for a good 3 days. So worth it!
Anyway, I wish I had been able to write this sooner - there were so many beautiful details that aren't as fresh in my head anymore. I do remember receiving a lot of compliments on the card box and the words I got up and said in a microphone to my future mother and father in law. I was really nervous - that is all I remember.The rest of the night is clouded by chardonnay and spotted cow, but here are some pictures!

My card box skills
Such an exciting thing to blog about, no?
The white spray paint was a much better idea and the card box turned out much better than I expected. Here is the finished product:
Her colors are black and white and she's having lilies. The only mishap was a nasty burn on the end of my ring finger and it hurt like hell. Maybe beer and hot glue guns don't mix. They really should put that on the warning label.
Corey got home this afternoon from hanging out with his friend Adam for the first time in about 9 years and went straight to bed. He didn't look so good. Apparently they had quite a bit to drink! Sounds like they had fun though, so I'm glad he was able to go.
Tomorrow I'll be working in the clinic from 8:15 until noon, then the high school after that until about 8:30 pm. LONG DAY! I took a couple pictures of my glorious closet...ahem...I mean training room. It's only about 10 feet wide.

It looks like a craft store threw up on my dining room floor.
This is turning out to be a much bigger PITA than I thought and costing more too. Unfortunately, a big part of that is my own fault because instead of white paint I bought this cool stuff that would actually resemble frosting. Screw that. It was so difficult to work with that after 2 hours I scraped it all off and put it back in the jar and you can bet your ass that I will be taking it back to Ben Franklin Crafts to get my (actually Linda’s) money back. I’ve now had a couple beers and made a trip to Wally World for a couple $0.96 cans of white spray paint. I’m pretty sure my neighbors are a little freaked out by me spray painting some odd shaped something out in the middle of the lawn in the dark, but I really don’t care. The *&%^$#@*! thing is white now.
Walmart is much more fun with a buzz.

Knotties for the Cure
I just checked our Race for the Cure team page and we are doing pretty damn good. At least 15 members and just under $1000 raised and we still have over a month to go! I wish I knew who some of the people on the team were - there are a few names I don’t recognize. Not that it matters, but if anyone wants to clue me in on who is who of the non-obvious ones that would be great. Thanks!

So I may have been a little weird
...or crazy. Take your pick.
I am finally busy again, and coincidentally my stress has gone down. For months now it's been one thing after another. First, I was about to graduate, then I thought I didn't pass physiology and wasn't graduating, then we were moving across the country, then I had the NATA exam, then Corey's job took forever to actually hire him and we ran out of money, my job didn't start for 2 months and I had too much time on my hands, and still no money.
This week I started working my GA position at the high school, as well as a week-long high school boys soccer camp. Now that I'm working again and things are calming down, I realize that I may have been a bit of a whack-job since at least May. Maybe even March. Good Lord that is a long time to be "off". I'm not even sure how much of it was blatant or was just my constantly racing mind. Either way, I sincerely apologize to everyone who may have noticed or been a victim of it - mom, Jodi, dad, Corey, my few blog readers, even the girls I've annoyed with stupid comments or questions on theknot.com's message boards.
Anyway, since the majority of you who are reading this are people who have never met me in person (yes, I check my sitemeter) I have no way to prove my sanity and I guess you'll have to take my word for it. My life is busy again, I'm not all stressed-out anymore, and I'm back to doing what I love. I'm even sleeping at night. I promise I am on my way back to "normal" again - whatever that is.

I have an idea! A wedding idea!
I hate when I get ideas...I tend to end up disappointed.
But...THIS idea might not be so bad. Actually I think it's pretty spectacular and I feel like a moron for not thinking of it weeks ago.
Why don't we get married in Madison?

Pros:
- Corey's entire immediate family (plus a few more) live within about 15 minutes from there.
- Linda and Andre's reception is at Olbrich Gardens next month, and guess what? The price is VERY good, and it looks like a beautiful location.
- They have a nice atrium for weddings also, so we wouldn't have to find a church (as long as we don't have over 120 people)
- BIG BONUS: Linda and Andre are good friends with the pastor at their church - I'm thinking maybe he would be willing to officiate our wedding as well - plus, we've actually met him, he's a great guy, and he would actually KNOW us, which is important to me
- The preferred caterers at Olbrich Gardens seem very reasonably priced.
- Transportation would be super easy for the wedding party
- There is still an airport nearby that all the out of towners can fly in to
- Maybe...just maybe...we could do the rehearsal dinner at Linda and Andre's house for something fun and casual so our families could get to know each other.
- That is quite a few less people needing to fork over money for gas and hotel rooms.
- That would also leave us some money to potentially provide transportation to our out of town guests from the reception to their hotels, keeping people from drunk driving, driving in an unfamiliar town, and renting cars.
- We also go to Madison enough that it wouldn't even be planning from a distance.
- Another big bonus: Corey might even go for this!
Cons:
- Madison might cost a little more to fly into
- People will miss out on the awesome-ness that is Milwaukee
- The entire rental fee is due at once
- Our date may have to change, but that doesn't bother me at all. I'm sure Corey can remember 8.1.08 (or whatever) just as easy.
Now, I just need to present this to Corey, then Linda and Andre. I'm not going to do it at 1:00 am though. Hopefully I'll sleep now that I got all that out!
